John Wick 3 Trailer: Halle Berry Gets in on the Action
Plus—and we can’t stress this enough—John Wick fights bad guys on a horse.
John Wick 2 ends with the titular hitman becoming “excommunicado” from the Continental Hotel, the underworld plug that operated as a neutral safety zone for assassins of Wick’s ilk. Now that he’s been kicked out, it’s open season on Wick (played by Keanu Reeves)—and he’s feeling the pressure. In the high-octane trailer for John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, Wick (and his trusty dog) are on the run, trying to escape the $14 million bounty on his head.
He’s seeking help from all corners of the underworld, including a powerful gatekeeper known only as the Director (a regal Anjelica Huston, slathering on a thick accent). And then there’s Sofia (hello, Halle Berry!), a fellow assassin with not one, but two dogs of her own. This film is Berry’s grand entrance to the franchise, and the latest in her recent action kick, which has seen her star in movies like Kidnap and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

The new trailer also gives us peeks at a handful of other new characters, including terrifying assassins played by Asia Kate Dillon and Mark Dacascos. We unfortunately do not see noted John Wick stan Jason Mantzoukas make his debut as the Tick Tock Man, however. “It’s a very small part. But they said, ‘The director would like to talk to you about coming onto this movie,’ and I was like, ‘Dude, yes! A million percent yes!’” he told Vanity Fair last year. Fine, we’ll take what we can get. Meanwhile, the trailer waves hello at returning characters, including Laurence Fishburne as the bird-loving Bowery King and Ian McShane as Winston, the Continental owner.

Perhaps most importantly, we also finally get to see a snippet of the scene in which Wick, still wearing an impeccable suit, rides a horse into battle against a motorcycle-bound hitman, a prospect that delighted the Internet to no end when paparazzi photos of the sequence went viral last year. John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, once again directed by Chad Stahelski, will hit theaters on May 17.
